The Samsung Galaxy M40 takes after the design of the Galaxy S10 with a Infinity-O display. This is one of the best phones to buy under Rs 20,000 from Samsung. It’s not AMOLED however, but a bright TFT panel. Thanks to the new display design, the screen stretches all the way to the edges and as such, makes it a smartphone fit for 2019. The back is made of glossy plastic with a gradient finish and houses a triple-camera setup which includes a 32MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide and 5MP depth sensor. Inside is a Snapdragon 675 SoC coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.

The Motorola One Vision is an unique offering in the mid-range segment. The phone features a tall 21:9 aspect ratio AMOLED display which makes it comfortable to hold and use. Inside is a SoC made by Samsung along with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. On the back you get a 48MP camera which is pretty good at taking low-light shots while the daylight HDR photos suffer from abnormal white balance and over-processing. Still, it’s pretty good at getting the details right and indoor shots come out sharp and vivid. On top of that, it’s Android One-powered and comes in pure, stock Android with the promise of regular updates. It is one of the best phones between Rs 15000 to Rs 20000.

XIAOMI REDMI NOTE 7 PRO
With a 48MP camera, Snapdragon 675 and new gradient colours, there's little to criticise about the Redmi Note 7 Pro. It not only brings a new design into the mix but also offers good gaming performance. The camera is one that makes it worth the buy, especially the default 12MP mode which can generate excellent detail and good dynamic range. It is the best mid-range phone to buy right now. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 has topped most of the benchmark scores in the mid-range segment. It's also specially optimised for gaming with additional features like network booster, frame rate booster and the likes. The phone also didn't slow down for the days we used it for the review and the UI transitions and icons look much better than before. The Redmi Note 7 Pro also brings an IR blaster to the mix that allows you to control your home appliances like a TV, AC, etc. There are additional features like a secure folder, dual instance of WhatsApp, Messenger, etc. and smart replies. Build quality wise the phone is quite durable. The Redmi Note 7 Pro sports Gorilla Glass 5 on both the front and the back and the launch presentation demonstrated how the phone can crack walnuts and tumble down stairs without much of a scratch. The only major downside to the Redmi Note 7 pro is you get ads served right into the UI. It is a good phone between Rs 15000 to Rs 20000.

The Samsung Galaxy M30s looks sleek and stylish with an AMOLED display up front along with a 48MP triple-camera setup at the back. But what's best about the phone is the 6000mAh battery inside with support for fast charging. It is a very good mobile phone under Rs 20000 for battery life.

The Poco F1 is the obvious choice if you are a performance enthusiast and is one of the fastest phone under Rs 20000. Price effectively at Rs 19,999 for the first flash sale, the Poco F1 packs a flagship Snapdragon 845 SoC with vapour-chamber cooling inside. The most affordable variant has 6GB RAM and 64GB storage along with a dual camera unit at the back. The Poco F1 is clearly the best mobile phone under Rs 20,000 to buy today. The Poco F1 is an anomaly. The Poco F1 has flagship hardware under the hood, but mid-range everything else. The camera, build and design and the display can’t keep up with the more expensive flagships of 2018. However, if a no-nonsense performer is what you’re looking for on a budget, look no further. The Poco F1 packs a dual camera unit at the back — A 12MP IMX 363 sensor with a lens of f/1.8 aperture and a pixel pitch of 1.4um. This is coupled with a 5MP sensor that is only used to capture depth information. Up front is a 20MP sensor that relies on pixel binning to deliver clearer photos with more details with lesser noise under low light. It’s the same setup you find on the company’s flagship Mi 8 and Poco claims it used the Mi 8’s algorithms to optimise the F1’s camera.

The Nokia 8.1 recently received a price-cut and is now available for well under Rs 20,000. It’s a phone with a HDR-display and a premium glass design. The IPS LCD panel can also convert SDR videos to HDR using a dedicated chip inside. Under the hood, there’s a Snapdragon 710 powering things along with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The camera on the back is especially good with Zeiss optics and 12MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 13MP telephoto lens. On the front is another 20MP sensor with f/2.0 lens for selfies. The Nokia 8.1 is a good buy if you want a stock Android interface with regular updates.

The Samsung Galaxy M30 is part of the company's revamped efforts to make it's mid-range phones more exciting. To that extent, the Galaxy M30 offers a triple-camera setup, including a wide-angle sensor and a vivid AMOLED display, which makes it stand apart from the rest of the mid-rangers with premium offerings. The Galaxy M30 is also one of the few mid-range phones to offer a wide-angle camera. The wide-angle offers a different view of the world and while it's quality is not as good as the wide-angle lens on the Galaxy S10, but it does let you experiment with different frames. The Galaxy M30 is also notable for offering a big battery and a bright AMOLED display with minimal distractions. It lasted well over a day during our review process and we believe this is a good device for watching videos while commuting. Heck, it even supports Widevine L1 certification which means you can stream content from Netflix, Prime Video and the likes in high definition. As for performance, the Galaxy M30 gives competition to the Redmi Note 7 Pro with good single-core performance. It also lasts longer than the most mid-rangers with a well optimised 5000mAh battery.
